Interoperability tests using construction machinery successfully completed

As the number of electric vehicle models on the market increases, CHAdeMO Association has established a new test centre, in addition to its existing charger certification system, with the aim of preventing charging problems with EV/PHEVs and creating an environment that does not inconvenience users.

At this test centre, before EV and PHEV models are launched on the market, interoperability tests are carried out to check that they can be charged without any problems using a variety of chargers.

Since the centre began operating in March this year, it has already been used for a variety of vehicles, including passenger cars, trucks and buses. Recently, the first connection test using construction machinery was carried out, and it was confirmed that it could be charged without any problems using a number of chargers.

The EVOLT eGR-250N electric-powered heavy-duty crane made by Tadano Ltd., can perform crane operations for about 11 hours on battery power alone, and it is also possible to perform continuous operations while charging (‘plug-in operations’). It has also been designated as an ultra-low noise construction machine by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.

CHAdeMO charging technology is not limited to use with passenger cars, but is also used to electrify construction machinery and other industry equipment. We will continue to work with various vehicle manufacturers and industry professionals to improve the quality of electrification in all aspects of mobility.
